CULTURAL RESEARCH & PRESERVATION THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY’ WITH REDHA ALHAMMAD
Photography as cultural research
This is an interactive talk and discussion which will explore the role of photography in helping with cultural research and preservation. The talk will focus on looking at the topic from many different angles with the goal of providing a multifaceted understanding of how the medium can be utilized as a tool for cultural work. Participants will be introduced to a series of curated projects, publications and photographers then are invited to share their own examples of photographic work or archives that have contributed to their personal understanding of culture.
There will also be time for each participant to share and exchange ideas by presenting an example of photography that has impacted their perception of culture. This can be anything from family archives, exhibitions or a specific photographer’s body of work and can be presented physically or digitally.
